The branch for state oil company Pertamina at Minangkabau International Airport, Padang, West Sumatra, has just issued a letter announcing that all refuelling services are suspended until further notice at the airport. This is due to the exhaustion of fuel stocks at the airport as a result of demonstrations at the Teluk Kabung fuel port in Padang. All airlines have been reminded to double uplift their fuel when going to Padang, until the fuel situation returns to normal.
Meanwhile in Jakarta, Pertamina has asked for security guarantees for its facilities deemed to be “vital national objects” from organized crime attacks,
“As a result, we have decided to suspend our operations at Teluk Kabung Fuel Port until guarantees are provided on security and until stern legal action is taken against the perpetrators,” Wianda (Pertamina Vice President Corporate Communications) asserted.
