Indonesia’s president Joko Widodo has travelled to Beijing to attend APEC prior to attending G-20 in Brisbane. The Indonesian presidential jet (a BBJ2 / 737-800) is being used for this tour. This marks a change from the previous president who tends to use the A330-300 for long haul, and then either the BBJ2 or Garuda’s 737-800 for short haul (and the Air Force 737-400s were never used to carry the president).
One thing is for sure, using the BBJ2 is definitely cheaper than chartering the A330-300 for trips like these! So Brisbane spotters, get ready to see A-001!
